National Apprenticeship week – part 3, February 2010

National Apprenticeship Week Celebration There’s been huge progress in bringing fresh faces into the health and social care sectors via a range of apprenticeship schemes, and an event was held on 2 February 2010 to celebrate our success. Proving that DH support for apprenticeships comes right from the top, Health Secretary Andy Burnham and Care Services Minister Phil Hope joined apprentices from across the NHS and social care at the event at Richmond House which was held as part of National Apprenticeship Week. In the past year, more than 5000 people have joined the NHS as apprentices, in clinical and non-clinical roles. In fact, the organisation is the only one on track to meet its target for new apprentices in 2009/2010.
